Marie has been married to her Prince Charming, better known as Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer, for 35 years. She is the proud mom to four adult children and two beautiful granddaughter’s.

Despite growing up in 20 foster homes, Marie didn’t let that stop her from pursuing her dreams.  When she was just 10 years old, she made a denim wrap skirt and modeled it in the county fair, and from that moment she knew she was destined to be in the fashion industry. In 1995 her dream became a reality when she opened her first clothing store.  Constantly reinventing herself, she and her twin daughters recently debuted a new retail location in Brooklyn, NY.  She is also very community minded, producing charity fashion shows, and serving on the Board of Directors for the CDA Regional Chamber of Commerce, Arts & Cultural Alliance and Safety Net InlandNW.

From a young age Marie dreamed of competing in a pageant, but didn’t pursue it because she questioned her purpose in pageantry. Finally, at 50 years old, she competed for the first time, and even though it took three years, she now holds the distinguished title of Mrs. Idaho American.  Her mission is clear:  she uses her title and her life story to inspire others to not let negative past experiences predict future success and to GRAB hold of their dreams.

GO-start today regardless of your circumstances.

REACH-relieve your past and reach towards the future.

ACHIEVE-start by setting small goals each day.

BELIEVE-you CAN do it. Don’t ever give up.

She also has a heart and passion for helping foster youth SEE a future of greater promise and hope, and created the #IamAFosterWin as a way for former fosters encourage those still in foster care.  She established a Proclamation in Coeur d’Alene:  Aging Out of Foster Care Awareness Day, and hopes to expand it throughout the state and beyond.
